A happy ending
I know, I know I said I’d have a little blogging break,
but something lovely has happened and I just had to tell you:
You may remember this post about the beautiful photograph
I had found of the Ford Robertson twins and their mother, Marion (updated post here).
Well,
Marions’ great grandson in New Zealand stumbled across my post
and contacted me
and […]
End of term
It’s been a busy couple of weeks
what with the decorating
all the end of term school activities
and working late into the night
trying to get everything ready for the Festival of Quilts
(I’ll be on stand G4, teaching workshops and demonstrating on the Pfaff sewing machine stand, say hello to me and my Mum if you’re there!)
so now it’s time to finish […]
New clothes
I went shopping with my friend Lucy the other day
and she talked me into buying this blouse
which is not my usual style.
But I do really like it.
Although, having seen it on the models I think I may need to tie my bow differently.
I’ve just had a huge clear out of my wardrobe and have only kept […]
Mood board
I’m trying to spend a little more of my time
experimenting and creating things
just because I can.
And because I’ve always liked starting a project with a mood board
I made this one: ‘A field guide to the night sky’ or maybe ’A history of light’.
Percy the Tease
I knew these little poetry books
were coming home with me
as soon as I read this inscription
in the Wordsworth book:
To dear Maid Marion from Percy the Tease! With many happy returns of the day. October 20, 1912
the inscription in the Browning book reads
‘To dearest Marion, with best love from Fluffs’
Do you think Percy the Tease is also […]
Flower + cloth + hammer
= the Japanese craft of hapa- zome.
or in English, excellent fun and a perfect stress reliever!
I saw it first on Alys Fowlers’ gardening programme (which I love) and then the next day Joanna emailed me and asked if I’d tried it yet.
So, of course I’ve been bashing every leaf and flower in sight since then.
But, my favourite so […]
Rust
I’ve been experimenting recently,
not trying to make or achieve anything in particular
but rather, just seeing what happens if…
so, this is what happens if you put lots of staples into a piece of tea stained calico
and then soak it briefly in a 50/ 50 water and vinegar mixture and then leave it alone for a week or two.
Interesting.
And so much […]
Bug Boy
The other morning Joe found half a dead slow worm (the tail end to be precise) lying in a puddle.
And knew his brother would adore it.
Luckily, Daddy was on Joe’s school run duty
and carried it home (so unlike me and the dead frog).
The ‘half a dead slow worm’ (as it’s always referred to) now lives […]
Spam
I enjoyed my couple of weeks off with the boys
and now I am back to reality- as you can see.
Whilst I was away from my computer I received this great piece of spam:
“Good day. Just planned to send you actually a line to let you know you may have numerous authentic admirers available”.
So, any of you ‘numerous […]
Easter
Today is my 3rd blogiversary.
I had intended to make a tutorial or a giveaway to celebrate
but, it wasn’t to be
so here’s a photo of a bowl of chocolate eggs instead.
And now, I’m giving myself a little holiday
so I can enjoy my boys
and eat more chocolate than is good for a person.
I wish you a lovely, restful, indulgent easter wherever you […]
