Moustache

March 25th, 2010 | sewing machine drawing | 6 Comments

Joe came home the other day and said he’d had a reading assessment at school.
He felt it had gone well except that he was asked to read ‘moustache’ which he’d never heard of and then couldn’t read anyway.
He’d guessed at ‘mouse- ache’.

And then the very next day I was queueing in the post office and saw a man […]

Don’t ask me why

because I don’t know.
I just felt it was missing a rabbit.

Flannels

November 26th, 2009 | sewing machine drawing | 6 Comments

For Christmas last year, everyone in the family
who had a nose and a sense of humour got one of these.
And this year everyone in the family who washes (i.e. everyone except my boys!)
will be getting one of these flannels and a bar of homemade (but not in my home) soap.
So, that’s Christmas sorted then!
How I […]

Doodling

November 15th, 2009 | sewing machine drawing | 5 Comments

This week vanished.
I do know that I got up early and went to bed late every day
and wasted no (okay, not that much) time in between.
Yet it’s Sunday again and I’ve got nothing much to show for it.
Except for a few quick doodles on my sewing machine.
Here’s hoping next week is calmer.

the random number picker thingy said 28.
So well done, Amy mo!
Thank you everyone for your kind words and flattery. I really, really do appreciate them.
It will be quiet around here for a while as the boys are on their school holidays and I am trying to keep them occupied on a miniscule entertainment budget.
It’s not difficult or unpleasant […]

Two years

My blog is two years old today.
So I made this to celebrate and to say thank you for all the your support and encouragement:
it’s a vintage embroidered tray cloth with an applique pig on it, in case you’re wondering.
with wording inspired by this fantastic Roald Dahl poem.
I know it’s unusual. But, I like it and hope someone else does […]

Crow Overhead

We have not been having a good week.
A winning combination of Henry having a tummy bug and a wild mouse taking up residence in the house.
Did you know this about mice? You certainly will if you’ve ever had one in your house.
Oh, and before you all read that link and then start emailing me: Henry’s bug […]

Design wall

March 11th, 2009 | sewing machine drawing, Home | 10 Comments

I did write about my design wall at the beginning of the week.
But since then my blog has had a mini meltdown and my post has vanished without a trace.
So my apologies if you have seen this already, but here it is again:
I whitewashed some cork tiles and stuck them to the wall above my book case to form a […]

Getting round to it

January 15th, 2009 | sewing machine drawing | 6 Comments

Over Christmas as Tony and I tidied up the kitchen (again) we suddenly realised that we still had child locks on all our cupboards.
Our youngest child? 4 years old and out at school all day…
Why, exactly had it taken us so long to notice?
Similarly, a few days ago I realised that I hadn’t drawn any patches for my shop for months.
And so […]

Bull Terrier

Another Christmas present completed!
Now I just have three of these Linnet bags to make and I’m done.
Well, almost.
Anyone remember my red dress? You know, the one that was going to be finished for last Christmas?
Well, I’d really like to get it finished in time for this year. Famous last words?
And, I finally baked our Christmas cake today, which will be decorated […]
