Violet blouse

January 12th, 2016 | Sewing | 1 Comment

I usually have a dressmaking project in my work basket. Just quietly lingering there waiting for some attention, but often being over-looked in favour of my next quilt and work deadline. It never seems to be the right time to dressmake. But I’d really love a handmade wardrobe! My Pinterest wardrobe is simply stunning! So, […]

Gypsophila

October 9th, 2015 | Moda fabric, Sewing, The Wordsmith | 2 Comments

This dainty Gypsophila print from my ‘The Wordsmith’ fabric collection is a particular favourite of mine. As ever I drew and painted from life and sent Moda the original drawings and the resulting fabric is as close to looking at my original painting as it’s possible to achieve. I have a glamorous vintage dress with […]

Sewing Basket

This old wicker sewing basket was waiting for me in the charity shop the other week. I’d love to know who owned it and see what she’d made, wouldn’t you?

Fox

July 24th, 2015 | Sewing | No Comments

I made this little fox as a mascot for Jan who runs ‘Grays’ a non- profit charity cafe here in my town.  He has yet to be named but is already in his coffee shop uniform and will be living somewhere in the cafe very soon. I bought the great pattern from Threadfollower on Etsy and the […]

July 17th, 2015 | Artisan apron | 14 Comments

My Artisan Apron pattern is flying out the door (thank you!) and it is nearly time to get another batch printed. So, I’d like to take this opportunity to improve the pattern. I’m going to get the apron graded so it will come in a set of sizes (instead of the one it does now). […]

A spot of embroidered graffiti to liven up an old cross stitch picture (found whilst thrifting) of an English country house. It’s going to be a cushion for my sofa one day. I have rather a lot of ‘one day’ projects…

Anna dress

November 18th, 2014 | Hearty Good Wishes, Sewing | 1 Comment

Just before leaving for Quilt Market I made myself a couple of dresses from my ‘More Hearty Good Wishes’ fabric (shipping in March 2015) and I even remembered to take a photo of me wearing one of them taken in my ‘oh so glamorous’ hotel bathroom! The pattern is the ‘Anna Dress’ from ‘By Hand London’, which is very […]

Chicken tea cosy

March 28th, 2014 | Sewing | 7 Comments

This week I came across a picture of my chicken tea cosy on Pinterest and then the next day a lady wrote and asked where she could find the free pattern for it. Funny how that happens. So, the pattern is here: Pattern – Hen Tea Cosy You’re welcome!

Artisan apron

March 26th, 2014 | Artisan apron, Sewing | 31 Comments

As you may know, I work from home in a little room off the kitchen and I used to find myself doing all the things that needed to be done instead of actually working. If you work from home I’m sure you know what I’m talking about! After much thought I realised that I needed a work uniform, something […]

bag

November 18th, 2013 | Sewing | 6 Comments

I found this wonderful tapestry of horses the other day whilst out thrift shopping and just had to rescue it. When I got home I made it into a bag (much to my family’s bemusement) and have been using it non-stop ever since. This makes me happy. I am easy pleased.
