Betty
Despite being Spaniel/ Retriever the boys and I decided Betty looked most like the Red Setter knitting pattern so that is what I made (leaving out the jowls and making her nose less pointy) and learnt a new loopy stitch in the process. Next time I have to learn a new stitch I won’t do [...]
U.F.O or W.I P?
When exactly does a ‘work in progress’ become an ‘unfinished object’? How about after 6 months without a new stitch? One lovely day about ten years from now this will be a Fyne vest. Truth is, I’m finding fair isle knitting very hard. And I knit to relax. So there it sits. Just making me [...]
bobble hat
I’ve just spent the best part of half an hour wandering round the house taking photos of myself wearing a bobble hat. Having a blog makes one behave quite strangely at times. :: Hat pattern taken from Sarah Hatton’s ’10 more [...]
mundane
(adj) of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one. Hand knitted dish cloths: mundane but lovely.
Bobble hat
I’ve been quietly adding a few rows to this hat all week and last night I made the bobble and excitedly tried my new hat on. It’s ridiculous! Too big and floppy to be a proper woolly hat and not enough structure to be a beret. Not to be too melodramatic but that’s what life has been [...]
brown cardigan
This is the knitting project that taught me the importance of checking you have bought yarn with the same dye lot. Because I grabbed 10 balls for a great price in a yarn sale (last year) without thinking and now I have a three toned cardigan! Still, it fits well and was a pleasure to knit. It’s ‘Blaze’ by Rowan. [...]
elbows
I have this really old wool cardigan it’s shrunk and has seen a moth or two but it goes with everything (at least I like to think it does) and I can’t find one to replace it and I haven’t got round to knitting a replacement either and I can’t bear to part with it so [...]
Slippers
:: Friday night Browsed Ravelry and found a free pattern for these ‘Duffers’ felted slippers. I thought they might be the perfect slipper for me. Decide a grey pair would be nice. :: Saturday morning in the yarn shop buying the felting wool, ignore all grey and choose bright green and variegated. :: Saturday afternoon knit, knit and [...]
Asta
I’ve been knitting constantly the last few weeks and have the messy house and the sore hands to prove it. But, I also have a lovely, well- fitting cardigan it’s a free Rowan pattern, Asta and as you can see, mine looks completely different from theirs. I haven’t decided if I’m a ribbon person yet (and if you didn’t follow the link, [...]
bookmark
It’s not worth a blog post really, after all it’s just scrap yarn and a few short rows of garter stitch. But I like it. Just not as much as these neckworms. Scrap yarn and garter stitch at their best.
