Hot chocolate?

July 11th, 2010 | Family | 2 Comments

It’s been very hot here.
My boys had a great time running through the sprinkler yesterday
stopping only when they were shivering blue with cold
then Joe asked for a hot chocolate to warm him up!

P.S. Still waiting for a plumber.

Welcome

If you were to visit me today
this would be the first thing you saw
upon crossing the threshold
2 slightly squashed bees
brought home by Henry to be made better.
He’s very worried about the bees. We took a short walk on Saturday and found no less than 5 dead bees.
This can not be good.
So, I’m going to do my […]

Six

June 21st, 2010 | Family | 6 Comments

Our Henry
turned six over the weekend.
Happy birthday gorgeous boy!

The only time he is ever still or quiet
(he talks in his sleep too)
is when he’s watching
Deadly 60 on the television.
Henry and his animals.

Alone

May 13th, 2010 | Family | 8 Comments

Joe asked me the other day if he’d ever been alone.
I said he’d been on his own
but never actually alone.
Not ever, not even for a second in his entire life.
He was amazed by that.
And it got me thinking…
at what age will I let him be alone?
And how will I feel when he is?

wow!

May 5th, 2010 | Family | 5 Comments

I knew you were a supportive, kindly bunch but
wow!
You surprised me.
A huge thank you to all 230 of you who visited Joe’s blog and
a round of applause for those who took the trouble to comment too.

You have made one 8 year old (and his Mum) very, very happy!
I tried to take a photo of Joe smiling […]

our utility room

May 3rd, 2010 | Home, Family | 7 Comments

Well, that’s what the estate agent called it.
In reality it’s just a gap big enough to house the washing machine and tumble drier.
But at least it’s got an interesting wall.
Over a year ago now, I painted round the boys and Tony and I.
Then I asked them to draw their faces and write their names and ages too
hence the comb […]

Bug Boy

April 23rd, 2010 | Family, Other | 8 Comments

The other morning Joe found half a dead slow worm (the tail end to be precise) lying in a puddle.
And knew his brother would adore it.
Luckily, Daddy was on Joe’s school run duty
and carried it home (so unlike me and the dead frog).
The ‘half a dead slow worm’ (as it’s always referred to) now lives […]

Easter

April 2nd, 2010 | Family, Other | 12 Comments

Today is my 3rd blogiversary.
I had intended to make a tutorial or a giveaway to celebrate
but, it wasn’t to be
so here’s a photo of a bowl of chocolate eggs instead.

And now, I’m giving myself a little holiday
so I can enjoy my boys
and eat more chocolate than is good for a person.
I wish you a lovely, restful, indulgent easter wherever you […]

Lego

February 22nd, 2010 | Family | 5 Comments

As the mother of two boys I spend a fair amount of time playing lego.
I’ve got quite into it, actually.
I even kept the boys up late last night so I could finish this:
it’s not my original idea of course,
I got it from James May’s great toy programmes.
The boys think I’m going to break it up in a few days.
But, […]

Henry’s Scraps

January 30th, 2010 | Family | 13 Comments

Henry (5) is writing and drawing all the time now
and he loves to leave his little messages all over the house for us to find.
I found these two yesterday.
Wonderful aren’t they?
