and yet another small brown British bird!

May 31st, 2007 | Drawing and Painting | 5 Comments

I did intend to have a quilt finished to show you tonight, but instead of sewing I decided to drink wine at a ‘Virgin Vie’ foot spa evening! Very relaxing it was too. So, you will have to wait until next week to see the quilt and look at yet another watercolour painting tonight. A Chaffinch this time. Apparently, Chaffinches sing […]

Another Bird

May 29th, 2007 | Drawing and Painting | 4 Comments

I would like to start by saying ‘thankyou’ to everyone who takes the time to leave me a comment. They are so lovely to read first thing in the morning!  Melissa (Tiny Happy) left a comment the other day asking to see some more bird paintings, so here’s another one- this one’s a Wren, a little Jenny Wren. I would […]

My Mums’ needlecase

May 24th, 2007 | Sewing | 5 Comments

My mum made this little green needlecase when she was at school (can you imagine any school making their pupils do that now? She also had to knit a pair of socks!) The green fabric is stitched around thin cardboard rectangles and it’s got bright pink lining, with a woollen fabric inner to hold the needles.  Mums’ […]

Sparrow

May 22nd, 2007 | Drawing and Painting | 4 Comments

I took a notion last night to do some watercolour painting, which is something I used to do regularly before I had the boys. But, I don’t think I’ve really done any painting for six years now. So, here it is – a little watercolour of a sparrow. They used to be really common in gardens but […]

Driftwood Angel

My boys can’t pass a feather by without picking it up; and I now have a big jar full of them (I am incapable of throwing anything away). Of course, since I made this angel they are no longer simply feathers but are now ‘angel wings’. She is papier mache and stands on a lovely piece of […]

Extreme Ironing

May 16th, 2007 | Home | 2 Comments

Just a quick post to relieve the tedium of looking after a 5 year old with earache! But, it’s not all gloom around here, oh no, I’ve got a spot of extreme ironing (look in the gallery) and a trip to the recycling centre to look forward to!

Work in progress

Thankyou for all your comments! After asking everyone (and Henry), I have decided to go ahead and make him a quilt. I just feel it wouldn’t be fair if Joe had one and he didn’t. I’d feel guilty. The background grows really quickly and is great fun to do. The needle turn applique however, will take ‘ages of times’ as Henry […]

Joe’s quilt

I made this applique quilt for Joe when he was coming up to his third birthday. It has photos of us (which I transferred to fabric) riding tractors and watering plants, and Joe himself is hiding behind the farmhouse door. It took hours…and he has never liked it. If I put it on his bed, he […]

Isabella’s Shoes

May 7th, 2007 | Sewing | 8 Comments

My friend Sarah had a little girl called Isabella on Thursday morning and we’re going to see her today! I’ve been wanting to make a pair of Heather Baileys’ ‘Bitty Booties’ for ages, so here they are… They are entirely handsewn and are made from felt. They are lined with a fine soft wool fabric. After making flowers […]

TinyHappy

One of the very first craft blogs I found was TinyHappy and it is still a real favourite of mine. Melissa is generous with her ideas and has some great free patterns on her site. I made this bag from her pattern using a pair of curtains purchased for 10p at a car boot sale (which were too small […]
