Three cheers for Tony!!
I’ve got a website and a shop! And I can’t tell you how pleased I am! Tony has worked so hard for me in the last few weeks translating my bunch of big ideas, drawings and ‘Word’ documents into a fully functioning website. Tony, I really can’t thank you enough. He’s gone to bed a very weary man!
Janet and Stanley
Like many of you I think Janet Boltons’ work is amazing! I love the naive style of it and how every stitch is so considered and well executed. She is a huge source of inspiration for me. When I was just getting interested in patchwork I made my own version of Janet Boltons’ ‘My Grandmothers’ Patchwork Quilt’ and was […]
Flickr
Well, hooray! I’ve finally got round to it – I’ve just opened a flickr account to show off my quilting designs. Amazing what a deadline can do to focus the brain isn’t it? But, I’ve only actually managed to upload two pictures because I made the mistake of starting to look at the 85, 847 other quilts listed! […]
Alphabetti Spaghetti!
On Saturday I saw these quotes in a restaurant – Sophia Loren said “Everything you see I owe to spaghetti” and Christopher Morley (?) said ” No man is lonely eating spaghetti, it requires so much attention”. Anyway, they got me thinking about spaghetti … and I’ve remembered a game I haven’t played for years. You will need: […]
First Quilt pattern
Yes, here it is the first ‘Janet Clare’ quilt pattern! The quilt is called ‘Come to the farm with me’ and is made using very easy and quick strip piecing and raw edge applique with free motion quilting. The quilt measures 36.5 x 42 inches. […]
And the winner is…
Congratulations number 11! So my little notebook cover will be winging its way to Lindy at Clumsy Crafter. I have sent you an email Lindy, but just in case you don’t receive it, please email me (janet@janetclare.co.uk) with your address. Last night Joe asked me how many ‘sleeps’ there were before he had to go back to school – […]
Revamped cardigan
Whoops! I forgot to take a ‘before’ photo. Sorry but you’ll have to use your fantastic imaginations to picture an unloved peach cotton cardigan which was never worn (not my colour) but which was too good to give away. So, I put it into the washing machine with some brown dye, added some bias binding made from an old […]
My 15 minutes of ‘fame’
Yes, this was it – my 15 minutes of fame! Back in 1993 whilst trying to establish myself as a knitwear designer I had one of my designs published in a knitting magazine. I knitted both of the jumpers myself and remember working round the clock to meet the deadline. The magazine gave me the yarn and […]
My Shop
I have mentioned opening a little shop to sell my patchwork patterns, cushions, applique pictures and angels here before – but so far no shop! Well, that’s all about to change as my ‘technical director’ and I have set an opening date and are working away getting everything made and organised […]
One U.F.O
I’m sure you’re the same as me and have several U.F.O’s! Last year I got fed up with the constant ‘I should finish that’ and its associated guilt and found all my U.F.Os. Guess what I did next? I threw out or gave away everything I did not really want […]
