The Journey is the reward
A lovely brand new patchwork shop called ‘The Wandering Line’ has just opened in Purley, Surrey. And, it’s owner Debbie has asked me to teach her JOURNEY course! As there’s no point re-inventing the wheel, I’ve ‘borrowed’ Debbie’s course description: “Do you want to develop your creativity? Learn new techniques? And improve your existing skills? Do you want to gain […]
Flannels
For Christmas last year, everyone in the family who had a nose and a sense of humour got one of these. And this year everyone in the family who washes (i.e. everyone except my boys!) will be getting one of these flannels and a bar of homemade (but not in my home) soap. So, that’s […]
Let work wait
I got back from the school run this morning, took one look at my ‘to do’ list and decided most of it would just have to wait and made a cake instead. So, I baked whilst listening to Julia Donaldson’s (the fabulous Gruffalo author) Desert island discs. It was a good decision. The English paper pieced cushion came home […]
Doodling
This week vanished. I do know that I got up early and went to bed late every day and wasted no (okay, not that much) time in between. Yet it’s Sunday again and I’ve got nothing much to show for it. Except for a few quick doodles on my sewing machine. Here’s hoping next week is calmer.
Clanger
You’re right I have been knitting a Clanger! It was good fun too. A bit fiddly here and there, but fun! Here’s the free pattern I used if you’re tempted to make one for yourself. This one is a present for a good friend of ours who loved the Clangers as a small boy. Whether he’ll actually want one […]
Pink thing
This week I have been knitting this strange pink thing. I couldn’t finish it last night because I didn’t have any pipe cleaners. Can you guess what it is yet? Now, this is completely unrelated, but Sew Mama Sew have started their handmade holidays and have very kindly included my blue sky thinker tutorial. I guess […]
Front Cover
Warning! Shameless self promotion to follow. My butterfly quilt for Sew Hip made the front cover! There is also a nice little feature on my studio inside the magazine. Rush out and buy your copy today. You want Issue 11. P.S. Tif’s in there too and so’s Amanda.
Another lucky find
I seem to be on a roll with finding vintage jumpers at the moment. My latest thrifty find is a hand knitted Aran cardigan. It’s a little big for me and Tony hates it. But tough I’m wearing it anyway! Once I’ve changed the buttons that is. Because when I wear […]
