Inspiration
I was asked (by my local patchwork group) to demonstrate my machine drawing and applique techniques last weekend.
I wanted to do something that was quick and easy to sew and was sitting with my sketchbook not feeling particularly inspired when Joe presented me with this:
and there it was.
Inspiration!
Now, just who inspired who?
Joes’ drawing inspired my applique, but was he inspired by this, which in turn, had been inspired by these?
And have I inspired someone who watched my demonstration to make their own row of houses…

Inspiration is wonderful isn’t it! Thank you for inspiring me. I have done a very lame first attempt at Janet Clare sketch stitching (at least thats what I call it). Its on my blog. But I did learn what to do and what not to do and I’m using that as a spring board to doing it better next time. You do inspire me! And I love row homes. I grew up in a great 1880s row home and I have been dying to make a row home quilt. Hopefully some day soon I will. I have about 14 million projects first but it is on my list! Thank you.

Hi! Would love to see a demonstration, too… I’d need a special foot to do this though, wouldn’t I? I have a very cheap LIDL sewing machine… Have you got a little demo up on youtube?

oh I love drawing with my machine. Your work is amazing. I have just completed a project for a book with some freehand machine stitching, but I can’t show just yet until the book is published.
glad to have found you.
