Mended

DoverWhat a lovely, relaxing weekend.

We actually found ourselves saying things like this; “We’d better get up because they stop serving breakfast at 10”.

I know!

We’ve normally been up 4 hours by then (as my parents found out.)

This is us walking along the White Cliffs of Dover.

As you can see, you are perilously close to the edge in some parts.

Glorious though.

And so close to France that my mobile phone switched to a French tariff.

We (un-originally) found ourselves singing this as we walked along.

As ever, there was time for a spot of thrifting. And I was lucky enough to find this beautiful vintage blanket.

It has my favourite blue stripes and is almost worn through in some places.

darnBut, it wasn’t until later that I saw how beautifully looked after it had been.

Someone had been proud of that blanket.

Only for it to be discarded and casually picked up for 50p in a charity shop.

Made me think, that did.

Anyone who has visited my shop will realise that I bought it with the intention of cutting it up.

But I find I can’t.

I’m going to keep on looking after it.

Glad you had fun! And I often feel ashamed at us for not looking after our things better and becoming such a throwaway society. So good for you and your new old blanket.

Very refreshing for the soul, lots of good clean air and just adult company. We all need to escape to just be together sometimes, well done. Glad to see that you mind was not completely off the job!

We are pleased you had a nice, relaxing weekend – no, I do mean it:-)
We had a really nice time with the boys.
I found myself singing as we were walking with the boys as well; Splash, Spongesomething and Bobtail; Bear Necessities: Elephants on Patrol etc.

My photos from our weekend will be on my blog today -hopefully.(bit of a plug there.

I’ve often read about the white cliffs of Dover. I’m a fan of WWII historical fiction/non-fiction. Delightful to see it from your vantage point. It is lovely.

Lucky you, to be in such a wonderful place – enjoying a lovely weekend….

And the blanket you found is simply adoring. Excactly my kind of favourite stripes too. It’s definitely a non cut keeper ;0)
