Finished

Big birdsAfter what feels like an eternity (but was actually only 5 weeks) my ‘Big Brown British Birds’ quilt is finally finished.

It was great fun to make.

The piecing is easy, but not so easy that it becomes boring.

Then you get to play with applique and drawing with your sewing machine.

Then there is a spot of fun embroidery and soothing quilting to look forward to.

I hand sewed the binding on last night watching ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ on TV and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I had planned to design, write the pattern for and then make a small quilt every month until the show- but it appears to have been rather over optimistic of me.

Having said that, 5 weeks is the quickest I have ever made a quilt.

The pattern will be available to buy shortly, as a paper pattern and to download as a PDF (but my ‘technical director’ is away in America and I don’t know how to do it!)

The boys went back to school today.

And I did try to work, but had one of those restless, headless chicken kind of mornings instead. You know the ones?

But I am hoping to get back into ‘work’ mode tomorrow and start work in earnest on the next quilt.

The question is: will I get it made in 3 weeks to remain on my self- imposed schedule?

Yes.

But only if I cheat and ask my lovely Mummy to quilt it for me…

Lovely quilt Janet. Such a lot of work in a short time. Your weekend away certainly did do you good.
Now, if your Mother is going to do some quilting for you I had better stock up the wine rack – your Mum will do the quilting and the wine – well, that’s me sorted!
