Herring Gull

There’s nothing like a deadline to get you working; particularly when you only have 12 childfree daylight hours a week and a very public reason to want to do well.

But, as is always the way when you have great plans and two children…

Poor Henry has had a temperature and in his own words ‘a something in my mouth that hurts when I do this (swallow)’ – a sore throat?

So, instead of getting the quilt tops made as I had planned I spent an entire day, half the night and the following morning with a hot, sweaty, grumpy 3 year old on my lap.

Oh well, the joys of motherhood.

Anyway, I thought I’d show you what I have managed to get done!

I’m working on two bird quilts at the moment. One of them features big British birds and the other features small British birds.

This Herring Gull is a big British bird. They eat absolutely anything apparently.

I’m designing the bird quilts with children and their stylish, yummy mummies in mind. You know, people who don’t think that children have to have primary colours and cartoon characters on everything- us basically.

As I am now a business woman (ha, ha!) I attempted some ‘market research’ here the other day, but neither of my boys were remotely interested… lets hope I just picked the wrong ‘market’.

What can I say other than it is the most amazing bird. A quilt with birds like that must be a dream to have….

Hope your little son is feeling better :0)

We are all suffering from colds too, started off with Man Flu from my husband, and has now reached the little ‘ens. Love the seagull, beautiful. Hope you get to snatch some sewing time soon!
