Joe is off school today feeling ‘flollopy’- which is our family term for when you are feeling a bit nauseous and listless.

He (of course) perked up enormously once the decision to keep him off school had been made.

Thus losing me yet another mornings work.

When will I ever achieve anything? Will I ever have enough to display?

I did however, manage to do a bit of cutting and sticking alongside Joe who stopped ‘flollopying’ for long enough to make a moon buggy out of a plastic box and a cork.

This is my fashion ideas scrapbook. I bought an enormous, falling apart atlas at a carboot sale for next to nothing in the summer and have been sticking ideas in it as and when I remember or get the chance.

You have already seen my general scrapbook here- which is truly one of my very favourite things.

I’m hoping this clothing scrapbook will inspire me to customise my clothes and dress like a creative, inspiring textile designer and not like a slummy mummy.

Although, it has failed miserably today. For I have dressed purely with the practicalities of looking after a ‘flollopy’ 6 year old in mind…

  1. I love your general scrapbook – I haven’t made one since just before we bought our first house 11 years ago although I did spend last summer cutting up all my Country Living magazines and saving my favourite bits. But as you mentioned in your general scrapbook post, knowing where your idea/design starts and someone elses ends is a really tricky subject – especially for an aspiring “designer of my own stuff” like me (i.e. I don’t think I can design anything yet!!!)

P.S. hope the flollopy boy gets well quickly!

  2. I have a ‘cool clothing’ collage on the inside of my wardrobe door to imspire me to dress a bit less scuzzily. I buy nice clothes, honest. They just somehow transform themselves to grunge while sitting in the cupboard. It’s a mystery how.

  3. I love scrapbook. I don’t have one for clothes… (although I might start one now…)but I have a similar one to yours for inspiration.

And yes it would be one of the things I’d grab out of my room if there was a fire. Right after my sewing machine and fabric.

  4. What a beautiful book, a wonderful example of the best kind of recycling, and a unique creation… what a good idea! If I could roll back the clock I’d trade all that I own to care for a flollopy little one again. I still call my Mom when I’m feeling sick, I say “mom I’m sick”. I don’t know what I expect her to do, but it just feels better knowing that she knows.
