and finally…

some craft!

Having spent months and months with my sewing machine I decided it was time to treat myself to some knitting.

I wanted to knit something quick and useful (as I definitely don’t need another WIP) and eventually came up with this.

cardiNow, I would never have considered knitting this on the strength of the pattern alone, but the shop had a real cardi on display, so I knew I liked it.

Makes me wonder what else I’ve been missing out on because I’ve been snooty about the cover photo.

I was going to play safe and knit it in green (pretty much everything I own is green, blue or brown) but then I saw the purple.

I did have to ask the lady in the shop if someone with my hair colouring could and should wear purple and she said ‘definitely’ so I chose to believe her!

Anyway, I’m pleased with how it turned out, although I think I might have made the back slightly shorter than the fronts. But a bit of stretching and some strong stitches soon sorted that out!

This was a super fast project, I only needed to cast on 70 stitches for the back (which were rapidly decreased anyway) and I had easily finished all the knitting within a week.

But then I had to sew it up.

I hate sewing up knitting. So that took me a while and then I lost the buttons…

so what could have been finished within 10 days, has actually taken me nearer a month!

Sadly, due to the blooming awful weather we’ve been having, it was cold enough to wear it in the garden this evening for my nightly glass of wine.

Not so sadly, the only thing it goes with in my entire wardrobe is that dress… so I’m going to have to do a spot of shopping!

that came out really well! it is tough to imagine what thinks might look like on a real person, that’s why i think ravelry is such a great resource.

it must be something to do with the lousy summer weather…i have picked up the old needles but have nothing to knit, so have decided to knit ‘cat blankets’ for my kitties…all in bright cheery colors.
love the cardi and love the color on you…

Pretty! Love the purple.I have cast on the slowest cardigan in the world – have been knitting for 3 days and completed 2 inches of the back. I may be some time…

It’s a lovely colour and looks great on you. I think the weather is also responsible for my desire to knit and crochet (just learnt and am so chuffed!). It’s the snugly in front of the fire type crafting that is appealing to me just now… must be Autumn!

I love this cardy! I think your version is a lot nicer than the one on the cover! What a great excuse for going out and buying more clothes to co-ordinate. Alternatively, you could go and buy more wool to knit another!

It looks great. And the shop lady was right: It definitely is a color you should be wearing.
And I had never thought of that aspect of making things, you know, the one where you don’t have anything to wear with what you made and now have to go shopping for something. I definitely like that a lot. Must try that, soon.

What a lovely cardigan! The color is wonderful on you. I agree, I wouldn’t have purchased the pattern from the cover shot but I would definitely consider it now.
