Dog Collection

I seem to have accidentally become a collector of china dogs.

It all started when I found the fox terrier (recognise him?)

in the charity shop and just had to have him.

And then my boys gave me the corgi for christmas.

And now, anytime anyone finds a china dog going cheap they buy it for me.

I even got a penguin once.

So, now they all sit on a high ledge above my design wall in the studio.

And, I know I shouldn’t really admit to loving them because they are ‘naff’ (i.e: uncool and tacky) but I can’t help myself.

I do!

I don’t suppose you would consider a half-pint size real live ‘Highland’ terrier to go sit up there? 😉

I have the fox terrier too. He’s so cute even though he’s had a paint job! I think someone tried to make him look like their own dog.

evokes memories for me… mom had them while I was growing up (1964 on) — a collection, on shelves dad had made — they were designated as mine after mom died but brother had them in his keeping whilst I was in college, and I believe threw them away (accidentally.) Stupid me, I had felt guilty wanting them so I left them with him, to my dismay.

Whenever I see them at flea markets/antique fairs it brings mom (who supposedly hated dogs in real life, go figure) back to my memory.

This picture warms my heart. Glad you shared.
