I would panic, but I just don’t have the energy

I’m busy. Really busy.

With projects and plans that I really, really must do. The Festival of Quilts is in a matter of days.

But, the boys are home from school and my daylight time is definitely not my own. And by the time I’ve got them to bed, well…

Read this post by Mouse. It’s happening to her too.

I did come across this drawing yesterday. She’s a preliminary sketch for a quilt design. The quilt is finished.

Absolutely nothing else is.

Today, I had planned to buy myself three childfree hours (playscheme in the park) but, you guessed it.

It’s pouring.

There will be no happy boys playing in the park today.

Here we go again…

I also have two children at home for the holidays. My week off, which was supposed to feature knitting and applique, has so far been composed of domestic tasks, board games / making pictures out of arts straws (it’s raining), and ferrying teenagers around. In my spare moments I’ve been idly frittering time on the computer. When does term start again, so my routines can be more reliable…??!

After I’d written that post yesterday I wondered if I was being too negative, but so many others seem to experience the same thing, I guess it’s an unavoidable part of life for we mums/homemakers/housewives if we try to combine our art with our lives. Kay, I identify with your comment too – once our concentration is broken it’s so easy to get sucked into the computer screen as a diversionary pleasure. Good luck with the quilts Janet!

It seems that life is like that. I remember as a teenager, I was told I had to complete a list of stuff before I could go out with friends. I worked so hard and then couldn’t reach anyone (way before cell phones) and spent the day watching TV. Bah! Why does life treat us like that?

By the way Janet, you might want to change the link to my blog to http://mousenotebook.blogspot.com/2009/08/snowballing-in-summer.html which is the actual post – otherwise when I add something new it won’t make sense anymore 🙂

so a meet up is out then?!
seriously though it is a tough one… finding the time to work during the holidays and have time with the children and not getting too stressed though i know how frustrating it can be…i can so relate to sue’s post too… all i know is that you will get there.. you maybe will not have quite as much new work with you as you would have liked but what you will have will be fantastic and of a high quality i know. glad your french girl is finished… she is lovely… hang on in there.. a trip to buy a few new dvds (or borrow from the library) for the boys maybe in order (my girls watched mary poppins god knows how many times when we were preparing for a counrty living show one year)! if you need nanny mcphee to come over just give us a bell…
