jam time
Year, after year I’ve made blackberry and apple jam.
But, I haven’t been given the cooking apples this year.
And I’m far too thrifty to buy them just for jam.
So, I’ve had to try something different with the results of my blackberry picking obsession:
Bramble jelly.
And guess what? It’s even nicer than blackberry and apple jam.
I took my mother in law blackberrying recently and she pointed out some sloes.
I hadn’t noticed them before.
I forsee a new hedgerow, free food picking obsession in my near future.
Sloe gin here I come…

my father in law used to make sloe gin – my god it was powerful – a very deceiving little number – tastes lovely but packs a punch!!! always got a hangover after a few glasses!
