Wallpaper

Thanks for all the lovely comments about my scarf

and the wallpaper I’m standing in front of.

The wallpaper we eventually chose (after much discussion) was ‘Wolcott’ from Laura Ashley.

It’s a really sunny, warm yellow. I thought it was a bit too bright at first, but I love it now.

You can see a glimpse of our bedroom in its previous state here.

So, after seven years we now have wallpaper and paint on the walls. And carpet on the floor.

What we don’t have is curtains. Or blinds.

Because we can’t decide.

Curtains or blinds? Blinds or curtains?

That colour scheme is beautiful, I must say I am very jealous of those lovely big bay-type windows and traditional style radiator (mundane I know but living in a flat you appreciate these things!)

I was actually going to say … bed first?

I’d go for blinds though. I love blinds. A nice crisp blind is simple and stilish and uncluttering. me thinks.

Why not have both? We have roman blinds at the window plus curtains. Curtains mainly for decoration but drawn when you feel the need of extra cosiness! I used blackout lining for the blinds and it’s brilliant – makes the room lovely and dark at night then a real surprise when you raise the blinds to (hopefully) bright sunshine in the morning.

Your room looks lovely by the way!

    Hi Janet
Can’t believe we’ve posted the same thing … well almost. I’ve just posted about my bedroom makeover http://michellemadethis.blogspot.com/2009/09/decorating.html and also commented about blinds/curtains!!
Loving your room – it’s so warm and bright and your window is fabulous, it would be a shame to cover it. I think curtains would be lovely as you can pull them back and let all the sun in … when we actually get some sun :o) M x

    Looks lovely.

    I also vote for blinds.

Curtains might not be able to be drawn all the way back from the window in that alcove, to let in the most light.

You could always put blinds in, with sheer floaty curtains over them to soften the look if you were really keen on curtains.

I think curtains will be better. It provides a softer feel to a room and I think will fit in better with that cute wallpaper. =)

I really enjoy what you did with the alcove by not wallpapering it . The contrast really points up the wallpaper. Wonderful job. Do you have to have curtains? I like the world to come in but if you have neighbors, maybe it would be a good idea.

what loveliness to wake up to! it looks wonderful with the white of the woodwork. as the most indecisive girl in east anglia i’m afraid i’m no help on window dressings…but i’m sure you’ll make the right call based on what you chose for the rest of the room. fantastic job! Xx

Laura Ashley is the best. Is anyone else feeling that ‘english rose’is having a comeback in a very general and generalized way ? I seem to be seeing everywhere these days. And I absolutely love it.
