our utility room

Well, that’s what the estate agent called it.

In reality it’s just a gap big enough to house the washing machine and tumble drier.

But at least it’s got an interesting wall.

Over a year ago now, I painted round the boys and Tony and I.

Then I asked them to draw their faces and write their names and ages too

hence the comb overs and the backwards ‘4’!

Every year on the same date I’m going to re-measure the boys and mark their new heights on the wall.

And then (an embarrassingly long time ago), Avril gave me this vintage bark cloth curtain

and today we finally got our act together and hung it.

It looks great, thanks Avril!

After much pestering we have finally given in and got

Joe his own blog.

He’s only 8 years old and he’s done all the writing and photography himself

and is simply desperate for a comment from someone he doesn’t know.

So, over to you.

Please.

I’ve sent Joe a gems weblink – thought I’d better identify myself. Good to see him building his own blog!

Bless his cotton socks – I gave in recently and let Mark have a Tumblr account (saves him cluttering up my hard drive with all his favourite pictures from Google Image searches!)

fab idea for the wall, we have a height chart here and in my parents holiday home as it is such a lovely thing to see how much they have grown.

Your sons blog is so sweet, he is a boy after my own sons heart. My son has a room full of gems that he keeps stacked in boxes, you can never have too many apparently 🙂

What a fun way to decorate your room.
My daughter was the one who liked to draw on everything, lol.
She painted on walls, doors and even her sheets.

Hi Janet, that curtain was obviously destined to be there as the size looks perfect. See you soon.

Love the curtain, Janet, and I wish I had the courage to paint something on my own walls.
Joe seems like quite the realist on his new blog. Very good, very young man-ly. I hope he’s not too disappointed that mostly ladies comment on his blog?
