Our son the poet

poemToday Joe woke us with a little poem he had made up and needed me to write down for him before he forgot it.

I have to say this is probably the nicest way he has ever woken me up in his entire 6 years.

I love that he composed a poem in bed all by himself and came rushing in with a pen and paper to get me to write it down for him.

An illustrated piece of paper no less.

What a wonderful start to the day.

The rest of the day was pretty average in comparison.

But tomorrow he is a star in the school Nativity play and I shall embarrass him by crying.

He tells me that he is actually an unhappy star because he has to wear white tights and hold his arms up a lot.

“Stars have sore arms Mummy”.

Is there a crueler fate for a small boy than being asked to wear white tights? I speak as the mother of a snowflake.

    Take oodles of tissues.

    Top poem too.

How gorgeous is that… I love being woken up by my little ones, especially when James (4) says ‘You know what Mama?’ and I have to reply ‘what my darling’ and he says ‘you’ll always be my beautiful girl’. My heart stops every time.
    Have a great weekend x
