Yes, my lovely but never worn dressing gown is now a dress.

To save making a dress from scratch I borrowed Tifs’ idea and altered a slip to wear underneath the dressing gown. The slip wasn’t long enough so I lengthened it with a tablecloth (also a charity shop purchase) and then added a pretty orange floral cheesecloth.

The dressing gown is worn over the slip with a sash tied around them both to form an empire line silhouette. So, my best dress- well, to be honest, my only dress is actually a dressing gown and a tablecloth!

No wonder Tony said it was ‘interesting’.

I’m quite pleased with it actually. Don’t know when I’m going to get the opportunity to wear it though. I don’t exactly lead a full length dress kind of life- as you can see from the photograph!

I thoroughly enjoyed my little break. I have not touched a computer or sewing machine for over a week and I have learnt that there is absolutely nothing worth watching on the television.

So I’m back with an enormous list of things I want to make and learn how to do… and I might actually have the energy to do them!

And the first thing I have to make is an enormous bag as Henry has finally given up his buggy.

In his own words – ‘I’m 3 for walking’. It’s come as something of a shock as I haven’t actually carried anything for nearly 6 years!
