I found this lovely 3/4 length pure wool coat in the charity shop for the bargain price of £3.50!
But, once I got it home I thought it was a bit plain and sensible… just like most of my other clothes in fact.
Can you tell that I am fed up with my clothes?
My clothes are very plain, practical and safe.
I have the wardrobe of a primary school teacher and a full time Mum (which is fine, I know).
But, I want to dress like a creative, imaginative, interesting person!
So, armed with a cheap coat, some scraps of tweed, a few buttons and a bunch of vague ideas about Anthropologie-ish corsages I did this…
So, in my ‘creative persons’ wardrobe I now have a dress (made from a dressing gown) and a brown cardigan and a green cardigan.
What can I say?
At least I have made a start!
And just in case you were under the impression that I lead an enviable life filled with walks in sunlit woods wearing posh coats…
as I was preparing the photos for this post Joe was playing the piano with his fists, Tony was listening to the radio, Henry was crying about something or other and the dog was barking for her tea!
Domestic bliss!
gorgeous janet – what work you’ve been up to! xx
Wow! Very cool!
With a figure like yours you can wear anything,
but the coat does look super!
that is gorgeous, looks stunning on the coat, those tweed fabrics are just perfect!
Way too cool for school!

You totally pulled off the anthropologie look with this. So creative!
wow – that is just so fab, i am inspired and am off to have my own moment with some tweed…
what a fantastic job you did… i am always getting anthropologie catalogues in the mail…they are so beautiful, i shall collect a few and send them to you so you can get inspired with the other members of your wardrobe…
thanks for the comment! haha, yeah, I realized that you wouldn’t know it from reading my blog entries for the past couple of months, but I do love to knit..just haven’t had the time or the resources lately..
Love your embellishments! The shot of you wearing it looks fantastic.
oh, wow! what a great job- i can’t believe that used to be a boring plain coat- and you look so glamorous in it!
ps, if you get chance, check my blog, i have nominated you for a ‘smile award’!
I only wish for a coat this fab to wear this winter. Fab x
Oh my word! It’s fantastic. I have several items I bought on the cheap just waiting for something great like this.
My shortcut solution to wanting to look more like a “creative person” was to ditch my “mom parka” and use some wraps around my shoulders. It’ll work until the cold weather really rolls in. Then I’d better get to work on the jacket and berets that are crying out for something to save them from plainville.
Fantastic job!
WOW! What an amazing improvement…..so lovely!!
