Betty and Ruby

So, I have Ruby a couple of days a week to help my friends out whilst they’re at work. Ruby, Betty and my boys are all best friends. It’s good.

Except for Monday. Because Monday was the day of the great raisin robbery. Raisins are highly toxic to dogs– even a little snack box amount (which is what they stole out of my bag).

And so I had a worrying (and expensive) afternoon phoning and then rushing the dogs to the vets, administering medicine and making mortifying phone calls to friends to tell them that their beloved dog might have been poisoned whilst in my care.

Betty and Ruby were lucky and thankfully no lasting harm was done. But please be warned.

Reminds me of the time terrier toby ate someone’s fruit and fibre cereal (dear husband!) and the vet made us give him salt water to make him sick, poor dog! Not an experience I want to repeat!

Phew what a relief. Last week my Ruby – a chocolate Lab – pinched a melon in the night from the veg. rack. When I came down her bed was covered in melon pips. Apparently melons are very good for Labradors!

Janet I’m so sorry to hear what the girls have been up to and so glad they are okay,if only we could explain to them that there are some things that are just not meant to go in tummies !
