Exciting Cooking
So, I went thrift shopping with my new purse and found ‘Exciting Cooking’ by Jean Balfour, 1959.
I took it from the shelf because I liked the sound of the title but I bought it because of the inscription:
‘Christmas 1961. To Jane, Hope you will feed the ‘brute’ Mummy.
Perfect.

I wonder who the brute was. Incriptions add another layer of fascination to me.

Perhaps Mummy did not approve of Jane’s marriage choice?

Hi Browsing for a new copy of Exciting Cooking I came across your blog, so hope you don’t mind me having a ‘nose’
I bought the book in 1960 when I came to England from Scotland it cost me 5/- from Woolworths, and no matter how many baking books I’ve bought or perused, none have come up to this one. I’ve just made some
Macaroons, tomorrow I’m doing some Melting Moments which I don’t think I’ve made since my girls were little.
I’m off now to track down a copy for the best price, mine is falling apart with brown crisped edges. I’d be happy if you’d drop by my blog Arlene and Ruby’s tales.blogspot.com or arleneandtangosblog.wordpress.com, I may well post about this book should I get one, bye for now.
