Dogs
I spent my evenings last week secretly knitting dogs for the boys
and last night I put them in their beds whilst they were sleeping.
I remember my Mum doing that for my sister and I.
I haven’t forgotten how exciting it was to wake up to a totally unexpected treat.
It’s pretty exciting waiting for the surprise to be discovered too!
I knitted a Jack Russell and a Corgi from ‘Best in Show’. They suggest knitting the dogs in 4 ply, but I knitted mine in aran weight and they are still only 20cm long. They aren’t hard to make- but you do need to be confident about increasing and decreasing stitches as there is a lot of shaping to do.

D’you think I could get away with knitting one the next time the ‘Can we get a dog’ plea goes out?

Perfect! I take so long to knit things that I am full of admiration that you were able to do it as a surprise!

I swore I was never going to knit another toy but these are so gorgeous, I’m going to have to buy this book – thanks for the “pointer”, Janet!

That is just the type of dogs you want Janet. No ‘walkies’, pooper scoopers or paw prints on the carpets.
I wish I was getting one!!

I like your dogs, they look very good. I’m sure your boys loved them!
I noticed the “Best in Show” blog last year and decided that I want a dog like that for myself. It’s just that I wanted a husky and I don’t think they’ve got one? So I experimented. Mine can be found here:

Of course yours are much more professional 🙂
