Hankies
I’m really fed up with paper tissues
so I went shopping for cloth ones but didn’t like the price of them.
Also, isn’t white the very worst colour a hankie could be?
So, I’ve started making some (we’ll be needing a lot- these are for me)
just cut a square of pretty fabric, roll the edges (I rolled the wrong side of the fabric to the right side)
and slip stitch in place.
Simple.
And all made whilst watching Birdsong (brilliant BBC drama on the iplayer now if you’re overseas, part 2 next Sunday night)
in front of the fire. So, I had a lovely evening with my fabric hankies.
And you’ll never say that about a paper tissue.

They are so pretty. One of the first things that impressed me about my husband is that he always has a clean hankie in his pocket. His are now monogrammed by me. I love that he carries a bit of my handiwork everyday.
Oh, and we’ve just watched the first episode of Birdsong and can’t wait for next week.

Finally someone who prefers fabric hankies beside me, these look divine. My eldest just bought some hankies for hubby and I almost keeled over at the price as well. You go girl, I am inspired!

Beautiful hankies! There were a few moments during Birdsong when I almost needed a pretty fabric hankie!

I always have two hankies on me and oddly enough so does your Uncle Michael.
Unlikely to be used to wipe any tears away while watching Birdsong though. I tried reading the book but gave it up.
Give me just a good war story anyday!

Beautiful! I always use a hankie. Much kinder on the nose than tissues. They are so expensive to buy! LOVE your new dressing gown with the odd placed stripes.

Hello again- didn’t manage to make hankies in time for last night’s episode of Birdsong- had to make do with dripping tears onto the dog instead!!! I haven’t even got to the end- recorded the last half hour to watch tonight.x
