Small brown thing
On Saturday evening I fancied doing some knitting and as no shops were open I had to use the yarn I had.
This left me with the choice of making a very stripey jumper or a small brown thing in an aran weight wool.
So, here is the small brown thing.
I was very lazy and just assumed my tension would be the same as the yarn suggested (it usually is) and used an old vest as a guide to the size and armhole shaping.
And off I went.
I did scribble down what I had done as I went along so the back would match the front.
But apart from that I just kept matching the knitting on the needles to the vest on the floor.
Very simple, very quick and a new top for ‘nothing’!
I have got one tip to share with you that you may not have thought of:
if you want to match an existing garment and need to work out how much yarn you will need, just weigh the original garment on the kitchen scales.
Clever, eh?
All this has made me realise however, that my yarn stash is virtually non-existent.
Something I am planning on rectifying very shortly!

As I am counting my stitches to knit a dishcloth (wonkily) I shall think of you whipping that up sans pattern and spit.

i have been looking all over the place for the perfect vest and would you believe, you have just gone and made it! and it all sounds so easy when you explain it, but i know if i was to try it, sadly my vest would not look half as good as yours…i so enjoy seeing the items that you make…
