Plum Sauce

I kept sneaking off all weekend to do some more pages in my family cookbook.

I was especially pleased with this one, so I thought I’d show you, as you have all been so complimentary about this little project!

Of course, the original photo (Toast again) is already beautiful, so I really haven’t added much. Just my lovely alphabet stamps and my handwriting. I could have typed the words, but I wanted the vintage, personal feel of real handwriting.

How awful is that? Handwriting having a ‘vintage’ feel…

But, nobody really handwrites anymore do they? Tony even suggested we have a virtual calender this year, which is absolutely not for me.

I like writing.

Although, I wish my handwriting was as beautiful as Tonys’ Grandads:

stunning wasn’t it?

Plum sauce is great by the way. You can use it as a chutney, in stir frys, as a marinade, and if you loosen it up with some olive oil you can use it as a dipping sauce. The recipe is from Sarah Raven’s wonderful book, which you definitely all need by the way!

Now, I have the morning to myself and I must fight the urge to write out more recipes and get some quilting patterns made instead.

I really enjoying watching this project unfold, I think you’ve come up with a stunning idea! I was inspired to the point that I made a special trip into the city today to search out old encyclopedias… I found a Reader’s Digest dictionary and now can’t wait to get started on our own Family Favourites.

OK! I was a little lost with your last post. For some reason I could not get what you were doing, but now I do and I LOVE it! What a beautiful book you will make. All of your ideas have such a lovely personal touch to them.

ooh this is lovley, but i am flummoxed as to how the book doesn’t go all thick and crinkly due to extra glued in pages, which is what happens to me when I glue things into blank books … Yours in confusion! x

That book just gets better and better. I think you may have to publish the photos and make a blurb book.

Book, borne of a book, borne of a book – yes, it could catch on!
