make up bag

November 16th, 2012 | Family, Sewing | 4 Comments

This week I made myself a really nice make up bag using Tilda’s pattern from ‘Sew Pretty Home Style’. The fabric is a voile remnant from Ray Stitch, the pink lining is an old tablecloth and I found the lovely zip at Quilters Dream. In other news: :: I’ve had fun with Ali’s Compound Word […]

inspiration seems to grow slowly round here and one day soon this pile will tell me what it wants to be :: Brene Brown’s TED talks on wholehearted living: vulnerability and shame. Fascinating.

striped dress

November 7th, 2012 | Sewing | 6 Comments

weak but welcome sunshine this morning for photographing my new striped dress. I do like it- it’s comfortable and practical and has a few nice details but I really wanted to love it. Maybe it’s the fabric- a big blowsy floral with more drape might be better. Maybe it’s me. It’s not the dress pattern. […]

sewing for me

November 6th, 2012 | Sewing | No Comments

somehow over these last busy few weeks I found a little time to make myself a new dress; I chose a green and cream striped cotton from the Clothhouse and the Lily Linen Dress from Tessuti and you’ll see the finished article when I’ve found another little pocket of time to photograph it!

chore

October 22nd, 2012 | Other, Sewing | 4 Comments

Why is sewing Cub badges (and school name tags) on such a chore when I can quite happily sit and sew anything else for hours on end? Also, mending fallen hems- I don’t like doing that. And I’m not mad about replacing buttons either.

made for me from an old blanket using this Martha Stewart pattern and then I made some in flannel for my friend’s birthday- I’m pretty certain that she knows her left and right but I just couldn’t help myself!

a dress

October 3rd, 2012 | Sewing | 8 Comments

made from thrifted fabric and no pattern so it is almost entirely shapeless but very comfortable. I made pockets in the side seams which I am quite proud of! The pockets are yellow- because I felt like it. I’ve been wearing the dress with an old leather belt, which I now have to wear two […]

Tilleke

Well, I’m pleased to say that last week is firmly behind me now. And after a weekend of doing absolutely nothing (or as close to it as a working Mum of two with a dog can get away with) I’m ready to tell you about my ‘tell your own story’ course at West Dean with […]

doll

May 23rd, 2012 | Sewing | 3 Comments

Ages and ages ago I made this little doll. I did take some photos of her then but they were dreadful (too grey and dark here). But today the sun is out so I tried again and here she is. Though, as you can see everything is still […]

tea cosy

May 8th, 2012 | Sewing | 5 Comments

Pinterest! I saw this fantastic teapot the other day (original Mr Teacup teapot here on Etsy) which made me chuckle and inspired my new teacosy over the weekend. Unfortunately, I’d forgotten to take Tony’s sense of humour into account before making it and have had to live through numerous renditions of the […]
