Did you know that B &Q have free woodworking classes? The boys made bird boxes at the weekend with proper power tools. They were both pretty proud of themselves. I’ve taken to eating my porridge with a sprinkling of cinnamon (and a lot of brown sugar). Very daring of me, don’t you think!

dress in everything you own, play in snow ’til you can’t feel your fingers and toes, take off everything you own, drape wet clothes on every radiator in the house, dry Betty, eat and drink until thoroughly thawed out. Repeat.

homemade bubbles

Henry (despite being too old for picture books) has spent the last few evenings blowing bubbles. The bigger the better. So today I made him a pot of bubble mixture and a big wand- blower thingy. Here’s the recipe: 1 cup water 2 tablespoons washing up liquid 1 tablespoon glycerin 1 teaspoon sugar

Those long three days and nights looking after Henry have left me feeling tired and behind. And yet, I would have bustled my way through those days and still had a long  ‘to do’ list today. I wonder… how much of what we busy ourselves with is really important?

Henry had a pyjama day on Friday and so did I because I had to look after him. And yes, that is my excuse and I’m sticking to it. We did manage to bake some chocolate chip cookies though. They were good but not for dunking.
