Last Years’ Cake

ice castleLast Christmas I made an ice castle cake.

I can’t claim it was an original idea of mine though.

I got the idea and the recipe from Delicious magazine and have happily just found the very same instructions for you on their website.

And, as is so often the way with good ideas it was surprisingly simple to do.

My favourite part is the central candle.

candleAs you can see it really looked effective.

I must say, I was very pleased with myself!

Now, I have declared today to be Christmas Cake Decorating Day, 2007.

But what to do?

I’ve got to match last years’ effort, but haven’t seen anything I want to copy.

Although, I am rather taken with these little snowy villages I am seeing everywhere.

We’re winding down for the holidays now. The cards are made and sent, the presents are bought and nearly wrapped, the food has been planned and a shopping list made and the house is dripping in decorations (even the kitchen!)

But the WIPs? Well… not so good.

And I still haven’t cut into my dress fabric.

    how gorgeous is that!!

Have you seen the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living? On the cover there’s a cake surrounded by beautifully decorated ginger bread houses…

It’ll be a piece of cake (bad joke) for you to do!!!

    It does look fantastic.

Even though it is probably ridiculous I am loving all the snow villages too. Might keep an eye out for one during the sales.
