Worrying
I’ve been thinking about worrying this weekend. How pointless it is.
On Saturday we went to a dinner party given by some friends we had gradually lost touch with. Hadn’t seen for two years in fact.
And I actually spent a fair amount of time brooding about how I didn’t want to go and wondering what the evening would be like. How I’d rather be home sewing.
…and it was brilliant. We had a really lovely evening.
So, another lesson learnt: I should just expect to enjoy myself and loosen up a bit. Be more like my boys in fact.
I love their ability to just launch themselves into everything and anything fulling expecting to have a great time doing it. And they nearly always do.
I can do it with my sewing machine.
I don’t really prepare what I am going to draw, I just feel my way there- I spontaneously go for it without worrying.
Of course, I have my fair share of disasters this way, but when a drawing works it just has so much life to it. It is effortless.
It is, in fact a joy.

It is such a shame that we can’t hold on to those carefree and innocent impulses of childhood – as grown-ups we do worry far too much. Glad your evening was fun. I love your lady and dog – these free-hand stitching pictures that you create are wonderful.

I love this girl and her dog. I’m also a worrier about things and I come from a long line of worriers. Maybe genetic. But I see in your free-motion stitch a great ability to let-go and not worry.
