Studio

So, over my next few posts I’ll be showing off my new studio!

Just so you can picture it: my studio used to be part of our garage. We knocked a door through from the kitchen and in a year have gone from this to this (that’s the same wall in each photo):

Now, it’s only small and I have had to be extremely ruthless with all my fabric etc to even fit in here.

But it has been so worthwhile.

Liberating even.

I can’t tell you how happy I am.

The fantastic green cupboard was found in next door’s garage.

They were having a clear out

and could. not. believe. it when I asked if I could have it.

So, okay neither of the doors will stay closed,

and the drawers resent being opened,

it had woodworm and the wooden top needed replacing…

but, why couldn’t anyone else see it was perfect for my studio?

I’m a lucky wee wart aren’t I?

Next time I’ll show you where I sew.

That looks really nice Janet, well worth the wait. I do like the cupboards. I look forward to more of the tour in up-coming posts.

Wow that looks great! Isn’t it nice having attractive storage – I have a wonderful handpainted dresser to hide (ahem, organise!) all my junk! Tip (from an ex handmade/painted kitchen/furniture maker!): if your drawers are sticky and won’t close, try taking them out and rubbing the tops, sides and bottom runners with a beeswax block or candle – usually works a treat, unless the drawers are very warped due to damp (in which case they might dry out anyway!).

    oh… nice!

I rescued an old chest of drawers (12 small drawers in three rows…. so lovely) from the depth of the factory where it housed spare parts/tools/general stuff people didn’t know where to put. Well, it got cleaned, treated, polished… and now it’s the best thing we own!!

You know what they say… one man’s rubbish it’s another man’s treasure!
